I am looking for things that are more specific than the usual coffee and cookies. Also… items that can be found in most cities in general retail shops. Can anyone make some suggestions?
Please keep it G rated. Thanks.

Why would you give them something different in their gift basket as opposed to a straight person’s gift basket? Do you think that gays and lesbians have different likes and dislikes then straight people? Your question shows extreme (uncalled for) bias.

i recently got a set of rainbow votive candle holders that i liked.
you don’t say what your relationship is with these gay people–coworkers/clients, family, friends? if you don’t know them well, or there isn’t some context for a gay-themed gift, a gay themed gift basket may be a bit inappropriate. if you want to let them know you’re gay friendly there are other ways.
gay people like yummy treats.

Why should a gift for someone who is gay or lesbian be any different from someone who is hetero? I mean, I pick out gifts for my friends based on who they are, their personalities, their interests….not on who they’re sleeping with.
I think you should buy things specific for the people themselves, regardless of their sexual orientation.
But if you really want to show support for their sexual orientation, then why not buy from a nonprofit that sends money to people with HIV/AIDS, or a gay-friendly charity or cause, such as helping gay couples with adoptions?

Let’s look at this situation realistically. No mater what a person’s sexual orientation is they are human. what would you give to an adult human. reaper out…..

What difference does it make if the items are for Gay/ Lesbian or straight people when the items are G rated? Last time I checked us straight people liked the same thing as those gay people…

I think I getcha meaning here.
Just like we sometimes give semi-saucy
gift baskets to heterosexual men (such as a
playboy theme) and women.
Maybe someone would want to send a
gift basket for an engagement celebration,
housewarming; bonding ceremony; wedding;
support group or club opening, and so on.
Here is a list of specific themed goods:

For example – a magazine; rainbow ball or
flag and as one poster already suggested -
candles.
Everyone likes chocolates and they are
romantic and sensual too. Here are a few
specialty shops:

You cold include a gay themed movie with the
chocolates:

- and here is a list of merchandise from the Gay
movies site, including coffee mugs and
a cute teddy bear:

Here’s a site with lots of good ideas and
the rationales for them. I like the idea of
themes of classical antiquity too – there are
lots of things one could find (soaps shaped
like cherubs and so on) along that line.
Here’s another of the points made on that
site:
7. Most Requested Gay Wedding Gifts
Couples formally committing to their same sex relationship have been discovering the joys of gift registries when letting their wedding guests know what to buy, but registries have reported gay couples have started new trends when it comes to wedding gifts.
The most popular items on gay gift registries have been gifts that move away from traditional items like homeware and linens. A recent report showed couples asking for cocktail shakers, computer games and novelty items, along with classic white china dinner sets and love-heart oven mitts.
The trend has moved into the mainstream, with opposite-sex couples naming more unusual gifts on their lists. One couple stated that they had never thought about naming items like bubble bath before they looked at a gay registry.

You could include flowers – make a bouquet
that includes the representative six rainbow colours.
Hope it goes well:)
